The Occupy Chapel Hill/Carrboro Education Working Group serves to raise awareness, distribute information, and facilitate an environment in which Occupiers can share their knowledge, understanding, and ideas for our future. The Education Working Group accomplishes these goals by creating fact sheets, organizing teach-ins and film screenings, and collaborating with other working groups to carry out consciousness-raising direct action.

The Facilitation working group guides the meetings of the General Assembly and provides facilitation assistance and training to the individuals and working groups of Occupy Chapel Hill/Carrboro (OCHC) in order to make their work easier. This includes preparing agendas for and conducting GA meetings, promoting an atmosphere of mutual respect and listening, ensuring adherence to process, evaluating and revising process as needed, recording consensus decisions, teaching facilitation skills, and generally responding to the related needs of OCHC at large.

Fundraising

The function of the Finance Working Group is to accept, account, and allocate the funds donated to or otherwise obtained by Occupy Chapel Hill/Carrboro. Other duties of this group include organizing fundraising activities, presenting budeteary requests to the OCHC General Assembly on behalf of working groups, and providing a transparent picture of OCHC’s finances.

The Solidarity Economy working group will work to educate themselves individually, each other, and the community about forms of economic activity that bypass, challenge, or “humanize” traditional capitalist structures, such as coops, free schools, and barter networks.
