Working Group Reportbacks
Outreach: Harry talked about attempting to have an ongoing presence at
the plaza.  ~15 people have signed up so far.  Looking at 10-6 or 12-6
7 days a week.  Let Harry know if interested.
Media: Becca wanted to shut down our website on the 18th to protest
SOPA/PIPA.  Brief discussion questioning impact.  Website will have
info directing people to places that they can learn about the bills.
Occupy the Courts: Heather confirmed that there are ~50 people
attending.  Email Heather if you can carpool.  There is an event
organized by Occupy Raleigh on the 21st to commemorate the anniversary
of Citizens United.  Details on calendar

Agenda:
1. What about MLK Day?
Harry gave a general overview of events in the plaza.  Probably about
200 people in plaza.  There will be speakers from 9:30 to 10, Bert
speaks for 2 minutes as a representative of OCHC.  There is then a
march down Franklin to Roberson St Church.  Program begins at 10:30 or
11.  Discussion on Williams tent.  Apparently, some NAACP members like
the tent and would like it to stay.  Can we get banners on the tent?
Michal – We should wear Occupy shirts, but make sure this isn’t about
Occupy.  It’s about MLK
Bert – Agree it would be good to have some presence.
2. Spontaneous visit from an Americans Elect person whose bus was
parked down the street.  They are a non-partisan group who tries to
get people to connect online and to nominate a president and speak
about the issues there.  Americanselect.org is website.  Heather gave
a great intervie to them afterwards.
3. Proposal from Kevin : Wants $60 to but iphone case and tripod for
Media.  Bert had a tripod he could offer bringing request under $30.
No longer need to debate
4. Alternate Graduation Ceremony: Kathleen from the alternate
graduation group spoke to us.  Bloomberg was set as the graduation
speaker before OWS.  They are looking to hand over the petition around
Feb 1.  They are starting to look at fundraising because they would
like to be able to pay airfare and hotel for the invited speakers.
They are working on the website.  The Stone Center is a possible
location.
Tait – What about a Mic Check?
Kathleen – Thought it would make a bad impression.  Graduation is
important to a lot of people and this would put people off.
Michal – Who are speakers?
Kathleen – Current likely speakers are two white males.  Would like
more diversity.
Miriam – When Desmond Tutu was here, they handed out literature.  Was
a great event.  Possible speakers from OWS?
Michal – We should tell Richard Mohammed that this is Happening
Alanna will tell him

Church, Fellowship Hall.  150 E Franklin St.  A number of local
establishments have donated food: Southern Rail, Amante, K&W, Mama
Dip’s.  Need more help with food collection, etc.  Talk to Harry who
is organizing volunteers.
6. Bert proposed an environmental working group.  Some discussion of
seed bombs, guerilla gardening, etc.  Looking to coordinate with local
groups such as NCWARN, Sierra Club, Croatan Earth First.  Anyone
interrested should talk with Bert.  There will be a meeting with
people from 350.org at 11:30 on Monday the 23rd at Med Deli.
7. As visioning for next GA, listen to piece of a speech from MLK.
Riverside Church speech?
