WORKING GROUP REPORT BACKS:

Media: Becca says we’re setting up a new forums system  in order to keep the listserv overload from burgeoning. Forum topics will be posted to the listserv so anyone who is interested can go to the forum and participate, then delete the listserv post. Should make for a better system.

Direct Action: David reminds us of the Art Walk; Occupy Georges are still available; efforts being made to keep the General Store fundraiser going or to do another one later if that falls through.

General Assembly: January 22, 2012

(Informal GA)

Ro: Indy Awards went well.  Occupiers were well regarded and received.  Occupies were presented with small evergreens (for guerrilla planting?).  Where should we (mischievously) plant it?

Be: At foreclosure workshop (yesterday):  attorneys explained procedures, individuals going through it asked questions – we have names to refer people, may have specific names of those facing foreclosure to help.  Attorney working for major mortgage bank stood up and said she had 50+ closures per week!  Quota was set for attorney to meet.  She said she was in total sympathy with foreclosed, the sheriffs, deputies, judges, etc. were almost all in total sympathy (some would return pretending they couldn’t find the house).  Foreclosure is an elaborate process possible to prolong / delay / prevent at many stages.  Tell anybody facing it: keep every piece of correspondence from mortgage company.

Bill Murray gave seminar on how to engage with other people who are at a different place.  Example was used of Town Council and Occupy for how to find a common ground.  Useful workshop.
